Mindset of a Champion

Sent by Jeremy Zoch | September 2024

The Olympics wrapped up a few weeks ago and I'm curious what memories come to mind when you think about the games this summer.

Recently I was encouraged by a tennis friend of mine to read the book, The Champion's Mind, by Jim Afremow, PhD.

I'm so glad I started reading this book during the Olympics and thought surely I would have dozens of applications to tennis and other sports I enjoy, but that is not how it went…

I found this book energizing me to be a better executive, better spouse, parent, as well as athlete.

"The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching."

A coach left this note on the locker of a young college soccer player after noticing her practicing relentlessly on her own in a park. The student, Mia Hamm, became one of greatest players ever.

The Champion's Mind makes me want to be more prepared, give more effort, and pursue excellence in being my very best.

What are you passionate about?

What does putting more effort into it look like for you?

Until next month,
